Hardware is Wii U play media file such like MOV/MKV/AVI or something?

most like 1080p hd format.seems wii u can't handle it???

I read you can watch it via the internet browser from the PC, so it is possible in a way.

HDTVs nowadays play videos, audio and picture files so I wouldn't even use it if the Wii U had it.
