My Wii U has had the blinking red light of death for a while and I want to send it in for repairs, but vWii is modded. I haven't used vWii in a long time and I can't even remember everything that's installed, but it at least has the Homebrew Channel and can play games off a USB drive.

From what I've read, Nintendo can see traces of soft-mods regardless of what I remove, so is there any point in virginizing? Will they even check since I'm sending it in for a completely unrelated hardware issue?

Please don't try to virginize your vWii, you will hard-brick it and it will be super obvious to Nintendo. If you send it in in it's current state, but delete everything you can that's obvious (wads, channels, stuff like that) there's a solid chance the won't notice. What caused the blinking red light of doom, again? If it's a hardware issue (it is, I need to read), there should be no reason for them to poke around with software anyway

Delete the homebrew channel, and other modifications. I doubt they would check software part, and even if they did, would they really go deep enough to check the vWii? And then would they really go through to see if you have any cIOS's?

Clean it up, yes. Viriginize? Stay away from that imo.

That first part sounds like a guarantee. I know the process is different from a Wii, but are you saying it's completely impossible? Regardless: With the exception of the Homebrew Channel, I don't have any custom channels and I'm not sure if I have any non-channel WADs (again, it's been a long time since I've used this). Should I just remove the HBC through the HackMii Installer and call it a day?

It seems far-fetched to me too, but I've heard stories of Nintendo being overly paranoid with this sort of thing and I just wanted to be sure.

Yeah, it's a guarantee. It's not possible to make a NAND backup from BEFORE you hack a console, and there's no way of obtaining a vWii NAND from the wild yet. vWii does not use the exact same System Menu as the Wii, so things will obviously end in tragedy if you attempt to use a ModMii-built virgin Wii NAND.

As for uninstalling HBC through HackMii, I would say that that's your best course of action, and really, all that you can do
