The first 30 products or so (well, the ones that are flashcards) are actually the same as the picture in your first post, just with a different sticker
If you can find a way to run YSMenu as "primary kernel", you will be able to avoid the timebomb (which only applies to using it to run DS games)
For ntrboot use, just check a ntrboot guide for compatibility
YSMenu is a far inferior kernel compared to Wood R4 though.
Couldn't I just set the DS clock backwards if the card ever happens to stop working?

You could, but it would screw up time based events as mentioned, and more importantly it would screw up online. SSL certificates have a start and end date, if the console set date is outside of this range it breaks online communication in games. Plus, if you care about using the built in web browser you'd get the same issue there.

Thanks for the quick response.
What about this one?

Or any from this list of options:

Unfortunately, it would take me a long time to get the one you recommended
R4 Gold Pro is the same cart, identical hardware.
Almost all other DS flashcarts still being sold have timebombs, the R4i Gold 3DS or R4i Gold 3DS Plus (r4ids.cn) are the only good options still available, apart from the DSTWO (Plus) which had some nice extra features on a DS, but on a 2DS/3DS it doesn't do much that you can't do better with homebrew, and it drains more battery, and costs more.
You can buy it elsewhere if you can find it, I just suggest nds-card because it's a trusted site.
