I would recommend not getting a notebook for the purpose of emulation. Even if the processor is powerful enough, I'm not a fan of how hot notebooks tend to run when put under stress and the problems that can accompany such thermal issues.

What kind of budget are you looking by the way? IMO, unless you NEED portability, go desktop. The one I built that can handle emulation of these things was only about $600. If you NEED laptop, I'm quite fond of the MSI GT70 series (what I have). They are nice build, but more of a portable desktop than a laptop.

I'd just like to say @Hargrun that whatever you buy, don't get a ULV notebook for emulation.

What is your budget anyway?
Sorry for the delay, guys! I didn't think this thread would get as many replies.

The budget, that's the problem. There is no limit on how much I can spend, cuz it's not me who'll be paying... I just don't want to abuse.

And yes, I'm aware that a desktop would be a faAaAaAr better choice, but I will be traveling in the coming months... So, this must be a notebook.

Weeeell... I'll try to take some consoles with me too, but I would prefer to emulate others, to save space. Of course, if the difference to make this notebook run Wii games is greater than or equal to the price of a Wii, I think it's more logical to just buy a Wii.

If you are okay with something that is "portable" (as in, it hurts like fuck to carry it around long distances whatever -- You would NEVER use this on a college campus, for instance --but perhaps to and from airports, and set up in "temp spots"), I am a HUGE fan of the MSI GT70 series machines. In particular, this is one that ought to go way above and beyond, the MSI GT70 Dominator-895 9S7-1763A2-895 17.3-Inch Laptop with nvidia 870m. Video card can be popped out for another one way later if you want, processor is damn fine and great on power efficiency. You can likely add 16 GB if you wanted as well (but 8 GB should be more than enough). The machine can accompany a second HDD, so you could also add a solid state if you so desired.

Full aluminum chassis, engineered well for heat dispersion. Quality build, nice display and everything. $1200 is a lot, but I don't think unfair for by any means for what you're getting here. I have had an older model for some years now, and also have recommended it to four or five friends who all love it to death.

The question with a machine like this is not whether something or run, only whether or not you get 60 FPS+ on max settings.

If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction

    Just kiss me Kyle.
  • x65943 @ x65943:
You either need to be intubated to bypass obstruction or create a stoma inferior to the the area of obstruction to survive
