If you are okay with something that is "portable" (as in, it hurts like fuck to carry it around long distances whatever -- You would NEVER use this on a college campus, for instance --but perhaps to and from airports, and set up in "temp spots"), I am a HUGE fan of the MSI GT70 series machines. In particular, this is one that ought to go way above and beyond, the
MSI GT70 Dominator-895 9S7-1763A2-895 17.3-Inch Laptop with nvidia 870m. Video card can be popped out for another one way later if you want, processor is damn fine and great on power efficiency. You can likely add 16 GB if you wanted as well (but 8 GB should be more than enough). The machine can accompany a second HDD, so you could also add a solid state if you so desired.
Full aluminum chassis, engineered well for heat dispersion. Quality build, nice display and everything. $1200 is a lot, but I don't think unfair for by any means for what you're getting here. I have had an older model for some years now, and also have recommended it to four or five friends who all love it to death.
The question with a machine like this is not whether something or run, only whether or not you get 60 FPS+ on max settings.
