I plan on hacking my Switch this Wednesday, so I've been doing some research. There's a lot of variations between guides though.

The 2 primary resources I've been looking at are this video (really well done might I add) and the NH Switch Guide https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/.

The video seems to be all inclusive, but the guide does have a few additional steps.

Is the video all I need to do? I'll be using a 256GB SD card in fat32, and my switch is on 8.0.1. Also, I have the same rcm loader he use's in the vid.

Thank you all.

If you don't have an ipatched switch it is super easy. I recommend making an emunand on your sd card so that you can keep emunand offline for hacks and sysnand clean for online games. It's just drag and drop files, and follow tutorial.

I'll be using emunand. Pretty much just following the guide. I just wanted to make sure by following the video I wasn't missing anything.

Why are you using Fat32? Just use exFat
No, if you use exfat w/ atmosphere things will go south real quick. I had corruption happen on every game install. I had to take everything out of the SD card, format the visible partition to fat32, and then move all of the files back. After moving from exfat to fat32 I never had corruption issues with atmosphere.

Also the link you posted, https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/ , is the top of the line. Use that one. Make sure you make a hidden partition emunand and ALWAYS KEEP it offline!!! Never connect it to the internet. If you get issues starting games saying you need to connect to the internet DONT! You just need to install patches.

One semi-unrelated question guys. I'm on 8.0.1 right now. Should I update my sysnand to 9 before I do anything or should I just keep it at 8.0.1 forever?

Just curious as you havent stated yet. You have checked the serial number of your Switch to ensure it isn't an ipatched unit right?

Use the NH Switch guide you linked, it's very thorough and easy to follow, and also has you create an emunand setup while leaving your sysnand intact and untainted.

I just finally hacked my launch day switch on FW 4.1.0 using that guide and it's working perfect.

Yup, first thing I did. It's not patched.

I guess I'll just leave sys on 8.0.1. I can't think of a benefit to updating it.

I haven't mentioned this, but I don't plan on ever taking this online. I have 2 switches, and my primary one won't be hacked.

If that is the case then I'd go ahead and update. Tie an account to the switch and then mod away. Dns90 or something if you plan to connect to the network for Homebrew.

Make a backup of your clean nand before and hold onto it just in case. No sense messing with emunand.

For new system/game updates, is there something I could use that would allow me to download the updates offline without authenticating to nintendo's servers?

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
