Hacking Is this a really good fake? (from RHS)

Hello, I recently bought my R4 from realhotstuff.com and upon receiving it, I have some questions about its authenticity. I've been hearing a lot that an elevated sticker means that its fake. Well, mine has that. That said, I run the official kernal, the box doesn't say anything about an "upgrade" or anything--looks totally legit. Plus, RHS is known to be a very reliable website.

I've also not had any problems with it whatsoever. Logic tells me that it's both legit AND fake.

I'd like to know for sure. Here are a few close-up shots of it.

I would say fake, when I had my R4, where the sticker was was completely flat and smooth, but that was about 7 months back...

RHS doesn't sell fakes, to my knowledge....

Also, that looks legit. I've seen a few R4s, and looks the same. I've also seen some clones, so I can tell the difference sometimes.

there is a thread i am aware of pictures of other peoples r4s in the forum. i would post you stuff there for them to look and compare.

Its real, the elevation has to be in the middle.

That's exactly what mine looks like. It also has the bump on the sticker.

Wait, I have a Version 2 R4 (no spring) that I bought from DealExtreme and there isn't a bump or raised area under the label. I've felt the entire surface of the sticker and can't feel any bump. Is mine a fake?

I got my R4 last October when the Ver. 2 springless models were still fairly new.

I doubt it. But the best way to tell a fake without opening it is to look at the microSD symbol.
If the tab is pointy = fake
if the tab is flat = real

The 1st generation R4s are the ones with the curve at the top, ( the ones with the springs) and some of the earlier springless ones.

The newer R4s have curves on both sides.

well they do sell R4 vIII but they tell you its a clone cart before buying it

It's fake. Looks like one of my carts that I bought.

The left picture is what's making the sticker rise.

The best way to check would be to open it up (Not that tough, just remove the tiny screw and check where the clips are) and check if there's a chip on the back of the PCB.
