So i got this second hand 3DS and download CFW on it. I wanted a do a shell swap on it, but failed horribly. I ripped one of the ribbon cables on the upper lcd trying to thread it throught the hinge, and some of the soldering on the speaker and sd tray got off. I was thinking of sending it to Nintendo and just dont put the SD in so there isnt any games or apps on it. Is this even a good idea?

(Please dont roast me)

The system would still have custom firmware, and Nintendo could easily check if they wanted to (through user accessible stuff like holding SELECT on boot, or by just checking internal memory for CFW-related stuff).

Mailing modded consoles to Nintendo is kind of hit and miss. Sometimes they don't care, sometimes they'll deny repair. I'm not sure if what you did is something they'd fix though.
