I know about the risks of going online with a cfw ps3 but is there anyway to sync trophies earned on it to PSN such as the use of another ps3 on ofw?

Also slightly off topic but what is regarded as the safest method going online with cfw currently?

The only true safe way to sync trophies from cfw (it's still not 100% safe mind you as there are always risks) is to update your console to ofw, sync trophies and downgrade back, that is the only way, you need a dongle to do that though.

And don't play online with cfw, not worth it, just use a ofw ps3 for online.

Doesn't doing that require modifying the console in some way?

I was hoping there was perhaps a way to transfer the user profile back and forth between a CFW ps3 and an OFW one.

no, if you already have cfw installed, all you need to do is install ofw, sync and then use the dongle to downgrade back, look up for guides to do that.

    dongle? are you certain?
if you have a flasher so that you can read/write the nand/nor of the ps3 you can update/downgrade to a dump, but you can't do it with a dongle.
you are saying that on the latest ofw, you can go back to cfw with a dongle? i don't think so...
maybe i am misunderstanding you, do you have more information?

I agree with this..you need an E3 flasher or some sort of motherboard flasher...a dongle is just going to get you into the factory service mode...but this is on 3.55..which you need a flasher and some hardware knowhow (if you updated)

i mean, i didn't want to be rude in my above post, but people shouldn't give advice if they don't really know what they are talking about...

    Not really.

Dongles are usually small external devices that have some software.code to peform specific tasks (whether that be run code, verify code signature, etc..)

Flashers are usually devices that can interface with NAND, NOR, and other EEPROMS in order to reprogram them.
