I get that people think OoT is the best because that's where they began, just like a lot of people who were exposed to RPGs for the first time with FF7 (another huge turd). However, both OoT and FF7 are poor examples within their franchises as whole.

/end of my opinion.
Well I like OoT most for completely different reasons, in fact, my first game was LA DX, and OoT was my second. I like it for the interior rather than it's reputation (I hate people who are like that). As for FF7, it was my first FF, but not my favorite. It would go: (the higher the more favored by me)
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy VII andFinal Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy VIII
and the ones I've played but do not like
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy X
It's mostly for the story and the characters that I liked Seven, and the Materia system, as well as the music and the locales.

I didn't intend to start a what's better than what discussion, but what the hell. The following is MY OPINION, not a statement of FACT.

1. Link to the Past
2. Link's Awakening
3. The Legend of Zelda (original)
4. Oracle of Ages/Seasons
5. Zelda II
6. (Honourable mention) Majora's Mask
7. (Honourable mention) Wind Waker

Ocarina of Time, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks and Twilight Princess are all turds. I fully expect Skyward Sword to be as well, because the Zelda franchise has been dead for a long time. Nintendo forgot a long time ago what makes these games fun. Yes, I have played them all, more than once too. So there ya go.

And your first was LttP, right? Mine was, and it was my favourite for a long while- WW toppled it by being the game to re-ignite my Zelda passion, forcing me to go back and buy up all those I had missed! Nice to see some Zelda II love (I am not trying to join the "which Zelda is best" debate, just being a pest!)

On topic- there are many people who don't know how to pirate games, let them have the ability to own it as it is a classic (this comment is aimed at the whole thread)

Wind Waker? That games goes at the bottom of the list. It was so easy it was infuriating. The Dungeons aren't mazes; you can't explore them. They basically limit your progress so there's only one place you can go at a time. Playing through the game I don't recall having more than one key at any point in the game. It was a Zelda beginner's game. And that kid in the beginning of the game with the gargantuan snot ball! I hated him so much!

What.
Is that a question? The word "what" with a period is confusing to me.

Anyway, play OoT or LttP (or any older Zelda game), then check out Wind Waker again and sigh at the easiness.

i think it should have been worded as, "the dungeons weren't mazes"
i would add, "unlike the previous titles where you can get lost like the water temple in OOT."
OFF TOPIC
======

The link's awakening is dsi ware so no 3D i think,
I simply like the implementation of virtual console real-time save. that's why I got it.

I thought about putting a "?" because I'm a grammar cop, but actually "What." or "Wat." is a form of forum speech in response to something so absurd it warrants for just that. It's rather common on the Temp.
Trust me, my Zelda Chronology was: LA->OoT->OoA->OoS->ALttP GBA->WW->TW->Zelda 1->Zelda II->MC->PH->ST. I'm no stranger to Zelda and WW was definitely not my first, I knew what the others were like before I played WW and still thought it was amazing.

This game is a very good, it's should be enough reason to buy it. But in reality, the possibility to play it any time on my current portable system is what made me buy it.

To me, it is the first Zelda game I finished.

I just looooove being a jerk with grammar. It's my thing I guess.

I got kinda jaded with Zelda after OoT because I kinda got sick starting over with a new story again, going through similar dungeons to get the same items to fight the same enemies, blah blah blah. I know Zelda's always been kind of like this, but WW where I got burned out on Zelda and really started to get sick of it all. It was great I suppose, but I had nothing but cynical eyes for that one.

ON TOPIC: I got LA DX because it was only 500 yen ($6 in the US I think). I figure if I can spend at least that much on junk food regularly, I could buy a gameboy game. Besides, doesn't it feel better to have a legit version of the game rather than playing an emulator?
