Lets you drag 'n drop .3ds roms but if you wanna play roms Sky3DS is better option because it supports the latest 10.1.0 27.

Does Sky3DS still have the 10 game limit? I've seen a lot of old articles mentioned this limit but nothing recent seems to mention it

So does emuNAND, so if your sysNAND is 9.2 or below Gateway or CFW is still a better option.

The blue button version doesn't.

Question - Do RXTools and similar CFWs support the latest firmware in EmuNAND on an O3DS.

I use Gateway on my New 3DS and an perfectly happy with it, but am thinking about switching my O3DS over to a CFW.

No it isn't, why the hell would anyone buy a sky3ds over a gateway (or cfw) if they're on 9.2 and under? You won't be able to play any games with the new anti-piracy checks, which already include Fire Emblem IF, Animal Crossing HHD and Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon...

I was hoping that cheat support would be a thing with Gateway. Now that they're working on it, it's a bit late because we already have that with NTR, so Gateway is completely obsolete in my books

I would barely call NTR proper cheats support.
Hardly any non-Japanese games even have cheat plugins, and they're mostly quite meh.
If we'll be able to use powersaves cheats with Gateway's new cheat support, that would be fantastic.

I was still under the impression that you should avoid the CFW with n3ds till it was more viable, but now it's viable? I stopped paying close attention to developments and I pay the price

CFW is good to go on N3DS now.

There's Reinand - Cakes - rxTools ( I guess it's stable on N3DS now?)
If you go with Reinand, there's a tut in my sig. :)

I use Gateway since it's easier, more safe and a little bit more stable. Gateway updates often and have new features that CFWs don't.

Okay, and can the CFW use emunand on n3ds beyond 9.5 for piracy? Because that's my main concern

N3DS cannot go beyond 9.5 Emunand regardless.

Games that require a higher firmware need to be cryptofixed.
To play your backed up games online, only the game needs to be up to date, Firmware doesn't matter.

Only if people keep buying Gateway cards there will be incentive for the Gateway team to go beyond 9.5 emunand on New 3DS.
Bottomline, CFWs are killing the 3DS scene.

So yeah, show them your support by telling your friends to buy Gateway.

This is true, I'm hoping Gateway will have a better solution and later on someone will figure out how to integrate it into a CFW. Something similar to old school AR Codes or something along the lines of that, I wish there were more cheat plugins right now though for US Games

I'd be tempted to say no, there's not much point in buying a Gateway anymore.

I bought my Gateway long before all these CFWs appeared so in that sense I don't regret it in the slightest - I love it. However, yesterday I installed rxTools on my O3DS and it's incredible. It seems at least on par with Gateway - supporting .cia, EmuNAND up to the latest 10.1, and a whole bunch of other features that Gateway doesn't have such as AGB_FIRM. For most end users, the only real omission is .3ds support, which is irrelevent when .cia is supported.

I'm going to keep using my Gateway on my New 3DS because I already own it and it works perfectly fine. No reason to switch over to a CFW. But if I didn't already own a Gateway, I think I'd go with a CFW instead.

I heard unless you change your emunand region, you can not use out of region dlc on CFW. Don't know if that is true or not but if it is that might be a deal breaker for people who likes import games a lot.

Using a Gateway flashcart drains the battery unnecessarily. A lot of people install CIA files and then pull out the flashcart. So no, there is no point in buying a Gateway.

never drained my battery any more than a regular cart. And gateway sports all games and emunands.

With a CFW in <9.2, you can install digital games as CIA. Why do people buy a Gateway then? Is there something unique you can do with it that you can't do in a CFW like RxTools?

To me, its just easier to use. Not to mention it was purchased before any cfw was available for 9.2.

If you don't want to play 5 new games every single days using the .3ds file support, gateway is clumsy to use. And setting it up with the mset stuff is as "difficult" as doing it for let's say Reinand.
I don't even mention the multiple reboot you have to do if you want to play a rom or a legit game cart.
Since I've installed a cfw I'm glad I don't have to use this mess that was GW. They probably introduced lot of stuff to the scene but their constant lies, silence for months and lack of support for N3DS won't let me drop a tear for their future.
