My googling has not yielded me any good results.

I see people are using playstation controllers on nintendont via an adapter.

but, would it be possible to say use a logitech gamepad in the wii itself and use that for retroarch, was wondering if anyone could clarify.

Retroarch would be what needs the support added. Wii games are hard-coded to the libraries they were linked with when they were developed and I don't think there are any retail games that included USB controller support other than music games that used instrument controllers and a few fitness titles.

I wouldnt expect usb gamepads to work with wii games since even the classic controller has such limited use between those titles.

The classic controller isn't USB, though. It just replicates the Wii remote's buttons and that's Bluetooth.

EDIT: I think I misunderstood that you were agreeing. :D
