In addition to what SylverReZ said: Signatures are always hidden on mobile partly so that people on limited data plans don't have to load them.

Yes but there is a huge societal pressure to conform to the norms which in the West are reinforced with religious beliefs while in Japan they are just enforced by old people, but thanks to the declining birth rates and everything, old people are the overwhelming majority so there's no escape.
