So I want to buy Smash Bros, Fire Emblem etc.

There are a few crapper games aka the ports, I want to use backups for just to checkout basically.
    Is this possible yet?

I think I have a 5.40 switch at present. Not sure whether to update and start playing Smash or wait. I'm trying to avoid a ban because I will want to play Smash online.

There is not a safe way, right now the best way is nand restoring you do a nand backup before hack and you use your switch hacked offline, then you can restore your nand back up, the other is emunand of SX that is on the SD

That does sound like the best solution. I am deliberating over whether to wait for the Switch refresh whenever it happens. I wish I could just get the console as I already have a second set of contorllers.

But is it 100% save? Also their is a chance that future firmwares are not compatible and you can boot from stand by trough the fuse issues.

Offline emuNAND would be the only way I would personally mis the two. SysNAND has access to the Nintendo folder and has legit games, legit logs, legit error messages, etc. emuNAND has access to some other folder, doesn't even have Wi-Fi settings input. All games and updates side-loaded.

There definitely is a way. You have to have 2 switches. Non hacked one for legit games and online play. Hacked switch for offline backup play.
    This method works 100%.

Sd emunand offline and latest ofw is safe, spending 25€ on sx license is better than spending 250€ on a new switch and more convenient

Does this definitely evade a ban tho? Is there a video tutorial for this?

Can i do this with a 6.20 switch or do I need one below 6.20 to create emunand?

You need a lower firmware, backup your clean 6.2 sysnand, downgrade to something below 6.2(DONT GO ONLINE) create emunand and restore hack free 6.2 sysnand again.

If you don't backup the clean sysnand and then restore it you will be probably flagged for a ban in the downgrade/upgrade process.

There is a way that is 100% ban safe as far as I know, by making a new "clean" nand backup prior to every time you want to use homebrew/CFW/NSPs/etc, staying offline in airplane mode while using that software, and then restoring that clean nand backup prior to ever going online.

It's a pain in the butt but it works. I've been using Hekate since the first release and I'm still not banned. Additional precautions must be made though, if you want to be "100%" safe. There's no evidence that Nintendo is banning based on this (at least YET), but theoretically they could validate boot0 against a hash, and if it fails, they'd have good reason to suspect you're using autorcm. So you should get a good quality jig so you can leave autorcm off. Similarly, if you update without burning fuses, while Hekate (and CFW) can be used to bypass that check, if Nintendo uses that fuse count elsewhere in their telemetry they could ban you based on that.

So what I'm writing I think goes against some recommendations from this community, but I think the only "100%" way of avoiding bans but still being able to go online without buying a second switch, is to use "clean" NAND backups, don't avoid burning fuses, and don't use AutoRCM or "pinhax" while in stock.

That being said, I haven't been banned, and I do use AutoRCM. If I get banned, that will be why, but it's a risk I've been ok with taking so far.

EmuNand will make this much easier, but I don't trust SX's implementation.
