Is there a way to make the Wolverine V3 Pro read as an Xbox Elite controller, or otherwise make Steam recognize its extra buttons?

Would it be possible to modify or make a custom driver to at the very least, make it read as an elite controller in steam?

They're remappable buttons, so likely they just send whatever input they're mapped as. So if you can map them to keyboard keys or something, then they can be used as extra buttons, otherwise you're limited by the mappings.

In the app, I can only map them to controller buttons. It just shows as a series X/S controller in Steam.

Steam is limiting you here because if you weren't using Steam controls you could just use JoytoKey and map any of your buttons to any keyboard key. I use combinations of buttons to escape games from my controller save/load games from emulators from controller etc.... with this app.

But if the game recognizes keyboard keys and your controller you could still do it, if not you're stuck by using Steam controls.

You can do that in Steam too but the controller likely isn't sending unique inputs for the extra buttons, they almost never do.
Mapping the extra buttons as button combos could be a usable workaround though.
