best option for you would be emunand
so far only Sx os has emunand but maybe atmos will support it in future

EmuNAND doesnt help prevent you from bans, people need to realize that

But people could use their favorite homebrew while being on offline Emunand. To keep their Sysnand in pristine condition to go online with purchased contents isn't that impossible to avoid banning.

Wait, are you a developer? A beta tester? The Switch released March 3rd 2017. It's not even 2.5 years, let alone 3. Unless you somehow got an early pre-release system?

Also, if you use emuNAND (SXOS, or Atmosphere in the near[ish] future), and only use emuNAND offline, you can use homebrew on emuNAND (in permanant airplane mode. Or at least with a protected DNS [aka 90dns or whatever it's called], as some homebrew supports online play with other homebrew). Then, if you want to play online, you use your sysNAND (no homebrew). As long as you keep the two distinctly seperate, you should be able to homebrew without bans.

Though, apparently if you're careful (no installed NSPs, no obvious save-game edits, no obvious cheats, and likely more), you can run Atmosphere (and most homebrew) without drawing Nintendo's attention (and therefore bans). But keep in mind anything can happen, and you might get banned anyway.

Could you tell me how to do this?

I've got an SXPR with emunand 7.0.1 and OFW 7.0.1. I only use EMUNAND for offline play
My son would like to play fortnite but that is online play.
Why it the risk of getting a ban. Because if I would install it.. the system most likely will ask me to update to the newest firmaware .. and afterwards it will download the latest game update.

Going to a higer OFW will make mus NAND backup of 7.0.1 useless I guess?

What are my options for the fortnite online play?

If you've never used custom firmware on sysnand, you should be safe. Update your sysnand using ChoiDujourNX so that you don't burn fuses. There is no need to "clear the system partition files", whatever that means. It's more likely to get you banned than to prevent a ban.

What's the benefit of updating and not burning fuses? Also, if you're FW doesn't match the # of burnt fuses isn't that a flag that something is modded for Nintendo?

if the burned fuses are higher than expected the system official bootloader will halt, So to answer your question: NOT Burning fuses will allow you to downgrade

For the 2nd question.. I don't think Nintendo can see your fuse count

    ------
As for the main question... of this thread.

If you never used homebrews or any kind of not legit stuff on OFW You could just update it to latest firmware version and play. And have emunand to do all the bad stuff(If you have sxos, or wait for the free solutions)

Not burning fuses will allow you to later downgrade your firmware to the version you are currently without having to inject a payload every time.
The only time that the fuses are checked is during boot. Once you get past boot, Nintendo is none the wiser.

If you can afford it go for a second switch for your online needs.
because running homebrew and stuff will get you banned.

What's the benefit in downgrading Sysnand if you're using emunand at the same time? I'm assuming you update sysnand so you can use online features so what would downgrading do?

It's pretty much just an option in case a better hack comes out later and requires a lower firmware

TX sx os emunand - Done about 50 with 0 bans to date

Without emunand customers are getting banned all over the place

Doesn't mean Nintendo wont detect it in the future but as of now its 100% rock solid

Just stay in airplane mode when in CFW, and never update a pirated game. Simple. I've been using SX OS since launch, and play Splatoon 2 on OFW with no issues. Then again, I always update regularly so my fuse count is always accurate. My love for Splatoon 2 always comes before Homebrew, so waiting a week or two for TX to update isn't that bad.

Oh, and if you pirate a game and play it before the game's release, change your switch's date to a day after launch, just so your save file won't give away that you played before launch. I hear that might also flag you for a ban.
