There's the official IRC chatroom, and there's a shoutbox on the portal page, but you have to have 100 posts or more to see it.
There is an IRC. There is also a Shoutbox, which I believe you are able to use after you get 100 posts.

Oh, thats fine, heh. At my age, such foolishness doesnt bother me in the least - in fact, much of the lingo/weird pics/ball busting/etc. I find quite amusing.
Asking about things I dont know about doesn't bother me a bit, doing so has allowed me many on-line mates and a small army of tech aides.

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
