Mmmh I think there was one in développement named shadownand. But it was experimental and I don't know much about it, so I guess other can give you more information

There's also Aurora Wright's a9lh.
But all "no SD a9lh" have problems (not necessarily ones that you care about, your choice), otherwise one of them would be the default in Plailect's guide.

Oh I didn't know there's was an Aurore Wright's version of a9lh ! Haven't update my a9lh since I hacked my 3DS xD

I have the no SD card version installed on all of my 3DS consoles, I've not encountered any issues thus far. It's really only for a back up in the event my SD card dies.

the no SD card A9LH from aurora wright works perfectly if you boot with a SD card in, if you don't it will apply basic patches (reboot patch, signature patch region free and firm prot , i think, @Aurora Wright , can you confirm?) and it will work fine except for if you try to start a NDS cartridge, it will error out.
