Of course it can.

I use it to play like 15 DS games in my 3DS and also for GameYob DS and NesDS.

Yes it's can play DS roms but is blocked on current FW, you can battle this with a particular cia installation. It was originally used to install the exploit on older fw.

it's basically and r4 clone, mainly used for installing the ds profile exploit
it can play ds games, and perhaps some homebrew/rom hacks
you can use flashcardtimewrap.cia for using it on 9.2

Yes, I have a DSi XL I use just to play DS ROMs. The 3DS XL isn't optimal for that, as they don't fit the screen properly.

Oh God yes, I remember even ditching Super Mario 64 DS due to the awful D-Pad controls, the joystick made me go back to it with no issues.

Hold start or select when launching a DS card (or flashcard) and they will fit the 3DSXL exactly perfectly the same size they were on the original DS.

Yeah the blue card may as well be thrown in the trash, after you aquire a DSTwo, of course!

Two single uses of the gateway blue card to install exploit and mine perished.....

I don't think it was worth it to buy, but they made it an option and it came with a Sandisk Pro 64GB mSD card. Almost the same price as the sky3ds, but with an mSD card.

The blue card is only included to install the DS profile exploit required to boot the red card. It's extremelt low quality - mine doesn't even work anymore, I use my DSTwo instead.

The build quality of the red card is perfectly fine though, despite the above post.
