I was planning on just getting a 2DS for now, but with the release of the New 3DS XL in Australia, I wanted to know is if the language would allow you to switch it to English? Since the Japanese one you cannot...

    Just wanted to know!

    Thanks!

What region does Australia NN3DS fall into? PAL or NTSC-U?

"Australia uses PAL version games only for the Wii, PlayStation 3 and sometimes the Xbox 360. Nintendo DS games in Australia use either their own localisations or localisations from North America to reduce release date delays on games, but some distributors use European versions as they are fully aligned to a certain European subsidiary e.g. Konami and Capcom of Europe for unknown reasons."

This is what I found from the internet, but that's not very informative.

EDIT: Found it. It is on PAL. So will work for EU games, but not for me here in North America.

I think applying the terms PAL and NTSC to 3DS is a bit of a misnomer. Those symbols indicate difference video formats, and, if I'm not mistaken, the 3DS is merely region-locked, i.e. the video is the same between USA, EUR, JPN, etc. devices.

yeah but they still use them for some reason ,they were old CRT TV standards ntsc =480 lines and pal was like 520 lines i think , but these consoles have built in screens and do not connect to tv's anyways

On a serious note, anybody know the cheapest place to buy a N3DS from Australia (that ships to Canada)?

If you were to purchase an AU N3DS then you would need to import games from Europe.
Don't import games from Australia, it is overpriced here. :(

Of course not. It's Australian, so obviously it'll be doing a horrible Australian accent inspired by Crocodile Dundee.
