There's no real advantage playing DS games on the 3DS. You can use the circle pad, but it's only digital control, not analog. Also the 3DS screen blurs DS games a little due to the upscaling.

DS Lite has some advantage if you will play DS games:

- It is cheaper

- Huge battery life

- an almost endless colors options

- tons of homebrew software with cheap flashcards

- no risks with firmware updates

It's not worth buying a 3DS to play DS games, flashcart or not.
Nintendo is just going to auto update the system and block the cards off.
Or if you ever wanted to buy a 3DS games it would have an update on it that blocks you from playing unless you install it.

oh ok.
Well to sum it all up:
The 3DS can only do what the DSi can do in terms of features.
The only thing it can use that the DSi cant is the Circle Pad, which acts as a d-pad.
The images look more fuzzy because of the differences in resolution.
You can press Start Select when the game is loading to make the games at their native resolutions but it makes the screen very small.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I wonder if we will see 3DS versions of some DS games, eventually.
