Hi all, i have a question about the Nintendo Switch.

Is is still worth to buy a Switch in 2024 with the Switch 2 around the corner? Or should i wait for the Switch 2?

It's a great time to get a switch. Get a used v2 Switch and mod it, have a full library and suite of homebrew to choose from.

You have 3 options :
- get an unpatched v1 Switch.
- pay for someone to have it done for you.
- wait for the Switch2 and maybe several years for a modchip that might never come.

Most definitely if you have some titles that you're interested in playing. I wouldn't bother waiting too much for the Switch 2 to come out, get a Switch Lite or V1 Switch and mod it to your liking.

if fomo is not an issue, it is always best to get a console after it's been out for a while. some say mid generation, others end of generation.

reason- well established library, cheap system (used or refurbished), software and hardware kinks are ironed out through updates, and my personal favorite: spare parts, mod kits, covers etc.. are readily available.

Also, Nintendo tends to release hardware revisions mid-generation, with significant improvements. The DS Lite, N3DS, Switch OLED...

Not entirely true. If you're a pirate/like to use homebrew, it is best to get a console when it first releases.

Do you want to play when you're not home? Do you have other games to play for the next 6-12 months? Is there a reason you want the Switch instead of a Steam Deck? If you can wait then you're probably better off waiting. If you have no other games you want to try then pick one up now.

The fact that the Switch is doing much better than ps5/series x/s, yes grab one either for hacking or just to have as a main console. OLED screen looks really beautiful to play on. Wish mine was hacked, but its ok the way it is.

If you live with other people you want to game with and gots money to spare, then yeah. When you get Switch 2 you will be able to play multiplayer Switch 1 games.

def recommend getting an oled and getting it modded, the library we have for the switch is phenomenal AND you can play older games flawlessly like stuff on gameboy advance on the big screen which was a big seller for me, we can run ds games too so you can essentially have the ENTIRE pokemon library in your collection for on the go or the big screen too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SWITCH AND GETTING IT MODDED

Better get Switch now because Switch 2 could be unhackable for very long time, or more harder like PS4/PS5 unless there is miracle like exploit bootrom.

Switch V1 prior to mid-late 2018 don't require mod chip and you just need good jig that won't bent or damage the pin in joy-con slider.

Switch V2, Lite and OLED require mod chip. Don't know about how to install mod chip? You can pay someone to install.

If you're not sure if it's worth buying one, then maybe just steal one. Top theft tip: it's likely to be easier to take one off a relatively small child than an adult.

Very good time because the switch 2 probably won't be able to be modded so if you want to mod it nows an amazing time since they have a lower price which is good for modding because if it gets bricked then you could buy another or get it repaired.
