Is it worth it to buy a wii off of Ebay that won't read discs and mod it.

I've been looking in to it and want to buy a wii and mod it. Would it matter if I bought a Wii that the Disc Drive doesn't work and just mod that?

I don't think you'll need the disc drive so buy it

You don't need the disc drive nope.
Tho, you'll have to use an internet connection to use letterbomb.

    Not really.
    I used letterbomb offline.

I used my phone's hotspot to dl the letterbomb's files on my laptop and put it on a spare SD card.

Then just used letterbomb from the wii. For some reason, my wii won't connect to my wifi (WPA2).

You need 4.3 to use letterbomb, though.

It technically still is an Internet connection.

Look up the games you'll be playing. The means you run some games can affect performance.

The Wii can play NES, SNES, GB, GBA, Master System, Game Gear, Genesis, Gamecube and Wii games. The Wii is the ultimate budget gaming machine.

Could you, please, elaborate on this?

Standard Wii games use Nintendo optical discs.
If you instead play a game as an iso file on SD card, for example, that changes the game's medium.

Oh, I see. You mean that loading from an SD, that has a lower reading speed compared to the console's disc reader, would alter things like loading times?

I've never tried to load a Wii game fron an SD, but that makes sense. I only loaded games via USB and I had no problem, so when I read your comment I kind of started wondering.

    Thanks for your response.
