Hi,

I have a softmodded wii. It's a 4.2u version.
Some of the games I try to run from a HDD using usbloadergx have glitches, bugs or crash. A lot of these games which have problems are more recent than the other games that run just fine.

I was thinking that perhaps updating to 4.3 would reset all the cios and I could hack it back using letterbomb but I just don't know if it's safe.
Is there a way to make sure I don't brick my wii? Is is safe to update directly from the wii console?

Thanks!

eze

There is 0 gain by going from 4.2 to 4.3.
You can just reinstall the required cIOS's without touching your system menu (which has nothing to do with playing games any way).

Short answer: Yes. It's safe.

Longer answer: It's safe, but you may as well just use modmii or the like to download all of the latest official IOS files. IF that doesn't work, update your cIOS as well.

There is no harm moving to 4.3, but its not necessary. If you are like me, you like to be on the most up to date version. In that case, go for it with modmii.

Ok thanks everyone.
The reason why I was thinking about this is that I'm pretty mixed up with cios.
I read many tutorials, but there's not a lot explaining in detail what goes where...

If there's no gain in it, I will update with modmii, and I will hope that everything will be easy!

Thank you all for your answers.

Do you think that updating will help making the games run without freezing?

thanks Lucif3r !!
I don't think there are any hdd error.
When I first softmodded my wii 1.5year ago, I was even more mixed up with cios so I guess I installed some wrong stuff in the wrong place.
I'll search for a guide that tells me exactly what to do.
