and is there a way to check if your sys and emunands are linked or not?
If you change the theme on emunand/sysnand and changes too on the other one, then emu and sys are linked.
If you're on a o3DS, you're good to go.
If a n3DS, rxTools doesn't support any higher than 9.5, so use reiNAND or Cakes instead.
Don't know about checking if your sysNAND and emuNAND are linked or not.
Check the friend code in emunand/sysnand, if it's different then the NANDs are unlinked.
Another way to check is by looking the Nintendo 3ds folder in the sd card. If you find 2 folders with numbers/letters + a folder named private then you have unlinked NANDs.
Like the previous post says if you have o3ds / o3ds xl / 2ds with rxtools then it's safe to update emunand, if you have n3ds / n3ds xl then no, don't update, but you can use reinand instead of rxtools and update to 10.5 emunand.
Yes, just make sure the nands are unlinked. (Set a theme/themeset on the Emunand) If the Sysnand also has one you need to unlink them)
There are absolutely no issues with having 10.5 on Emunand (With any cfw as far as I know), but be prepared Nintendo are probably doing this online thing to force people to update, and so upcoming ones will likely break emunand in some way so keep yourself aware of future ones and if you can update.
