via the EZ Flash 3 in 1? Something like Emerald to Platinum, is what I'm asking.

I think I read about this a long time ago, but I don't know what to Google since anything too specific doesn't give any results, but too broad gives me nothing either.

Sorry if this is the wrong section, but I figured it would require a patch so it seemed like the right place to ask.

I'm running an original R4 with the latest Wood firmware if that matters

If your flash cart supports GBA-NDS ROM linking, then it's just a matter of following the instructions on how to do that. Most good NDS flash carts do support it. I've done it with the M3 DS Real and the GBA expansion pack, so you should via the setup you state to have.

As far as i know the GBA-NDS Link on M3 DS Real doesnt work on platinum. Im 100% sure they work on diamond and pearl. As for the series after that i never bothered to try again.

From what I remember, AKAIO handles GBA up to D/P/P transfers. From the GBATemp wiki entry of AKAIO, "Does AKAIO support GBA Link mode? As of AKAIO 1.3 FINAL GBA Link mode is available on the Acekard 2 only and for the following games: NDS - Pokemon Diamond, Pearl. and Platinum; GBA - Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, and Leaf Green. The GBA cart save to NDS game loading works behind the scenes. Make use of the in-game options to 'link' with your GBA game, AKAIO will do the rest. Both the eWin and EZ3in1 are supported."

Not sure what steps you need to take though. I would assume that you would copy your GBA save to the 3in1. Maybe use GBA ExpLoader to "burn" your game and game save to the 3in1?

I thought the EZ3in1 works the same as the one from M3 Real? It loads everything from the flashcart including game and save. Thats how it works on the M3 Real atleast.

Never used the M3 line, so I can't compare. The AKAIO wiki doesn't go into any depth on how it works.

AKAIO, with the default settings, will copy the game and save over to the 3in1 and it will then launch the GBA game. The game will go to the volatile memory (no power = no data) while the save will go to the non-volatile memory. When you turn the DS back on, AKAIO will copy the 3in1 save back to the microSD. With GBA ExpLoader, the game and the save both go to the non-volatile memory. In fact, your 3in1 will be recognized as a GBA game in any DS/GBA that will hold it.
