So i was reading this homebrew called dsp dumper, and it was to dump.... dsp obviously, not that i find it useful but it says for adding sound to homebrew, not that i get that part either cause doesn't homebrew already have sound? Emulators, Prboom, some other stuff.... I also see lots of people rom hacking and such, i just wondered if is possible to add voice communications to some games like smash bros, or pokemon, or monster hunter or whatever people wish they could use it for?

Since dsp is said for homebrew, i dunno if it would have anything to do with this. But i was curious. Is fine if is not possible. I was curious.

Adding voice communications to those games would require a huge amount of work. You would have to program the usual audio recording, then on top of that, run it through a private server (because you aren't going to send unknown data to ninty servers without a ban). Since you are sending data to a private server, you will have to understand how the servers on nintendos side work to actually accept data from a ds and make use of it.

I see now, so the dsp for homebrew are intended for homebrew that uses a private server and not nintendo network. Because it sends information that would be detected, it wouldn't be good as they would know someone is using hacks with their system.

I don't think so. Nintendo is very antsy about online gaming and may permaban any device that is trying to send unexpected data over their network.

Right i understood that.

is it possible to create a private server to connect to independant from nintendo? I see people mentioned play WII and DS games with the offical server shut down.

Compared to ds and wii servers, it would be much more difficult to pull off, it would probably be much easier to just get a teamspeak/discord server to talk to people with

I'll have to look up team speak and discord.

But maybe everyone don't have access to those things when playing 3DS games. I understand the difficulty in setting it up, but can it be done? I am not asking anyone to validate it or to try and do it, Just if is possible. That is all. Besides has it been done for DS games? They use microphone and private servers too.
