This would seem rather pointless and stupid at first glance, but hear me out, I do have a reason for asking.

OK, let's say you have godmode9.CIA, or a bunch of other stuff that can potentially mess up your amazing a9lh/emunand console, but you loan it out frequently or are paranoid a family member or friend would mess something up.

By changing the rating of these apps that could harm your 3ds, and the rating of each game, then you could set a parental restriction on anything higher then let's say, T. Set each homebrew app to T and bam, restricted access to each one.

Meanwhile, your actual games can be set to like e10+ so people don't bug you to unlock every time they want to change games

That's actually a good question. I've never heard anything about it but I am sure it could be done.

I don't think this is how that works. Nice concept though. You can always rename the payloads to a different name with fbi before lending the system out. Which would keep the payload from booting with the key button for it being held.

Well, my cousins and some little kids come to my house, but sometimes, they just don't respect my stuff. They can get the 3ds and play and mess with my save. So, it is a good Idea.

If homebrew apps don't have a rating to begin with, why not give them a rating? There's gotta be a way to do that, right? We could give them all an M rating, and limit all M rated games. The actual M rated games that want to be played could be changed to a T rating. This is a very good idea that would eliminate the requests for a "child proof" or "noob proof" mode on cfw. The only problem with this is payloads, which can be disabled by renaming them through FBI as Nero says. When parental controls are not in use, you won't even notice the effects on the console as everything will be unlocked without any further fiddling. I would have to say this is probably one of those things where there just isn't enough need for it to create.

I have no idea how to do it, but i am very sure this is possible. I've heard it brought up several times here and there.

This sounds awesome this could come in handy for my friend who has multiple younger brothers who might mess with his 3ds.

Well probably mainly for loaning the 3ds to a young child, since if you didnt want them to have it you could set up a password lock.

Yeah but he has a9lh (gave it too him a few hours ago) and has a two 3 and 5 year old brothers who like to play on his 3ds because his parents force him too share the 3ds with his brothers and if he put a pin then his parents would proably get mad at him for locking out the 3ds to his use only.

i can imagine it now, everyone with parental control gets cfw to change ratings of games so that they can play them

There's a way to set a specific "level" when compiling homebrew which determines the rating of the software. @mashers actually explained it some time last year. I think if you set the level to the lowest value or something you can protect it with Parental Controls. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what's done to do this. I don't believe you can do anything about retail games, though.

They wouldn't have to go through with all that if they used the master key reset tool.

Your parents seriously set parental controls on your system...? Are you really 19?
