I know no commercial games are going to output 4k resolution on the Switch because the graphics or framerate would take a major blow. I just want to know if it is possible for some game with very simple graphics to support 4k resolution on the Switch.

It can most likely stream 4k video such as Netflix or Youtube
It can stream 1080p at 120FPS and 4K at 60FPS.
As for whether or not it can output 4K, I have no idea. Once we hack it, maybe. I'm not certain DisplayPort over USB-C even supports 2160p. It probably does.

The only difference is bandwidth.
The Switch has an HDMI 1.4 port. This would bottleneck any theoretical 4K playback at 24 FPS.
So you mean that a hdmi 1.4 port would be able to stream 4k? Slowly but still doable

Feature films and animations mostly run at 24FPS, so not exactly slowly. But yes.
This is about 4K in the context of the Switch though.

bullshit, we can only reliably process 16fps.
process != see
we can see at an upper limit of 298fps

If it really can output 4k, I guess it will be available only for video streaming app like youtube or Plex
damn, I really want plex on switch
I doubt Nintendo would have any 4K support. If we ever see a 4K signal come out of a Switch, it'll be from hacking.

Actually, I just realized something. The dock handles all HDMI signal processing. Unless we can hack the dock too, no 4K.
The switch is capable of 4K, and perhaps it can output 4K, but the dock won't know what to do, so the end result will be nothing.

I don't think it would be able to handle most games well on 4K. Doom is an example.

    One of the sites that weren't blocked on the school's network was some file uploading sites. I would upload some games, write down the URL and take it to school one day.

    It was easy to bypass some of the restrictions, as one of the admins left a registry key in the administrative shares drive, which allowed me to get around the blocking of some sites.
