Yeah, that's really a shame OP's on 3.0, but I think the only thing really lost here is about 3 hours of downgrading work!

On O3DS you can safely downgrade from 10.7 to 2.1. How would I know? I've done it.

It's safe... If you know what you're doing. I've personally done it multiple times but I would not recommend it for someone coming out of 3.0 with no idea what they're doing

That's awesome! Although I wonder, how would one get out of 2.1 without a NAND dump? (I'm sure it's easier with a Sky3DS, but I'm curious!)

Using PlaiSysUpdater is as easy as taking a shit, anybody can do it.

On o3ds you can just update.

You just update back to 10.7 and downgrade to 9.2.

no, considering that there's no n3ds version 2.1 updating it from cart would probably just use o3ds firmware, which can't be good.

I could see that happening, I'd even test it if I had a spare N3DS (that wasn't my sister's.)
