Its said that with Mac books (wich use Li-ion batteries) to keep the battery healthy you should let it (once in a while)
run totally empty till there is nothing left in it, and then charge it up (switched off) till it says that its completely full.
I'm not sure how it is with a DS, but since its a Li-ion battery...
Playing while charging is for one thing totally bad; the one way most batteries charge is by the build-up of electric tension,
when plugged in while playing, your using almost as much as is coming in, that means that the battery loses its tension and
the particles lose their "excited" state (the same happens when a battery isn't used for a long time)
But, if you really can't wait to play your games there is always the option to put the DS back-light to minimum;
since the DS back-light is a very big power consumer put it to minimum will allow more power come in the battery than used.
