ya just level up and get items and make a lot of $ and get potions and stuff in your inventory. this game isn't hard, it's just long. I still haven't got the real ending yet but I didn't find the game difficult at all. I prefer not to cheat in games until I already finished it because sometimes the cheats give it replay value. Otherwise if a game is aweful I load up cheats just for the heck of it if I'm that bored.

nah their dad swooped in and the castle caved in on itself. Game over.
Well that's the BAD ending.
You have to use a particular spell on them in order to progress in the game.

Only then you'll get the good ending.
For gold mining, get 2 Gold Rings from Golden Skeletons and keep going back and forth in the corridor with the Persephones.
Europa's Dress (Sucubbus drop) is worth 5000$ and it drops really easy too with a Thiefh ring.

Am I missing something important, or do I just suck at this game?Â

Nah. I've been playing Castlevania since the NES and they hhave never been particularly easy. The older games were a lot less Metroid like. The first modern CAstlevania I believe was Symphony of The Night, which is actuly more difficult than POR. In fact if you have played SOTN you will see that most of the sprites in the DS games are recycled from it. JUst pay the game more and you will get better. (And avoid the N64 castlevania game)

These Castlevania games aren't hard at all. I got to the 2nd set of 4 paintings but eventually stopped because it was just a game for me to play before Pokemon D/P came out. I never did go back and finish it because the new art bugs me.

Before that, the only Castlevania games I had beaten were Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow. Circle of the Moon was tough for me since it was my first Castlevania game.

Edit: Oh, and Lament of Innocence, but that's a little different compared to the 2D games.

It actually is pretty hard at the beginning and the first time you play, because you don't know where to go so you spend a lot of time wandering around in circles, thus getting owned by the same enemies over and over. I distinctly remember the Desert Area as one of the harder parts of the game. Once you level up however, the game becomes freakingly easy, until you reach the secret area.

Yeah, it's not that difficult once you get used to the system. I played all the way to the Dracula/Death battle, but I'm stuck there. ^^" I'm at level 43... might it be because I'm not at a level high enough? Or do I just need to keep trying? (I HATE having to replay areas over and over just to "level up"

KangaRod: Yes, you're missing quite a big part of the game (maybe 1/4...). To continue, you need to get a purification spell in the desert portrait once you get the frog form. Just go the the place with the boulders, and look out for an opening to enter in frog form.

Just keep doing the Nest of Evil. lvl 55 should be enough for you to breeze right trough. I finished at lvl 62 because I got EVERYTHING in the game.
Holy Claymore + The Greatest Five + Grand Cruz makes the final fight a breeze. Just focus on Death first

Yeah..sort of, you need to unlock and complete all of Winds challenges. You completed The Nest of Evil yet? Im stuck, i think its the fifth one down, with the two Frankensteins..

I like the last 3-4 Castlevania titles better then any of the rest of them

Aria of Sorrow
Portrait of Ruin
Harmony of Dissodence

AoS was/is a brilliant game, only thing missing from PoR is the option to use the enemies Souls, best part about the game..

Old thread and question has been answered dozen times but I gotta throw my own dime into the pile and make myself feel better than the thread starter(LOL!)..

Yeah, the game wasn't hard. I actually liked this Castlevania alot. Been with the C games since the first NES one.

Finished it with 1000% exploration on the first run, then jumped to hard to finish the game again... Meh, finished all the boss rushes with "best prizes" yada yada (+ add more lines of me saying how great I am in this game so I will feel even better...)!

Yeah, it's awesome game. Leveling up keeps you ahead of your enemies and makes it alot easier.
