I don't have a hard mod but I can do one and i got a 9.2 backup from gateway and a 4.5 back up as well so I will test it out if my 3ds bricks i will hard mod.
You can attempt it if there is a way. I think you need higher permissions/kernel to mess with Native_Firm so this idea may be useless. :(

It may not be a direct door to a legit/unsigned CIA installer, but im sure ironhax (or its source) will help to get a working one on 9.3+. I mean its a hack WITHOUT use of a gamecard on the so-called-air-tight version 9.9.0.

We can't install CIAs... It's more or less limited to the rights NINJHAX2 gives.
Smealum calls the am:init() service in a recent update to the HBmenu on github which could possibly lead to installing legit .cia if Smealum found an alternative to gspwn to allow more am services.

I'm pretty sure that smea won't release anything that allows direct piracy. In addition to that, it's probably just am:app and not am:u or am:net.

Ninjhax initially had the am services, but when gspwn was patched, we couldn't use it anymore. He brought it back apparently with a new exploit or something. The am services do more than just install .cia (it's a lot more complicated) Like without gpswn, dynarac citragb can't be done. :P

First off, am:u and am:net were never services ninjhax 1 could access. That didn't happen until kernel access. It has access to another am service group, but it cannot install .cias. Second, gspwn was never patched in 9.3, ninjhax 2 still uses gspwn and gspwn cannot be patched (or at least patched easily). Memchunkhax, however, was patched in 9.3 and firmlaunchhax on 9.5. CitrAGB relies on the former. To get .CIA installing on 9.3 and up you would need a new kernel exploit for arm11.

I think I got rohax and gspwn mixed up  I had thought that you had the permissions for dynaric without kernel. I guess kernel access was out then. I didn't know. Thanks for correcting me. Also, what did Ninjhax take advantage of rohax? What did rohax provide?

AFAIK, NTR CFW 3.0 does an arm11 kernelhax to work (closed source anyway). As now is compatible with the latest emuNAND (9.9), it seems this hack is still compatible on later firmwares. Maybe this hack can be useful (maybe only one step) for legit CIA installing.
