Gaming is internet on ps4 free? (without subscription like nintendo consoles)

I'm thinking of buying a ps4 from game exchange near my hometown... only $120 and trading in 7 games which gives me a 30% percent discount with every game thats traded in... is the internet free on ps4 like the wii u and 3ds or do I have to pay a subscription like xbox live??

To play online on PS4 you have to pay a monthly fee. You can use the web browser and store and stuff for free (other than the cost of what you buy in the store, obviously). You don't need to pay to download patches and updates (you don't even need an account for those).
