Watched this video and had me wondering, should I get a DSi XL myself?

I have a handful of DS games

mostly play on N3ds (dual IPS), but I have an XL dual IPS as well for collecting purposes

I like the d-pad in the more comfortable position, dual IPS guaranteed in DSi XL makes it more alluring... and yeah

also how is the modding scene for it? my cfw n3ds has been awesome for emu, Twilight++, and playing my carts off the microSD. Its been lovely.

I admittedly spend more time playing 3DS than DS on my 3DS, and have more 3DS titles, but I am now wondering...

also I know DSi XL cant take GBA carts, but how is it for GBA play?

The Mario edition is pretty cool too, my N3DS is Pokemon with the Japanese orange faceplates (for an orange cremesicle look) and I have the hyrule edition N3DSXL.

afaik, they never came out with a ds xl, so it's the only way to get a bigger screen. however, I don't know if I'd do it if I owned a 3ds. twilight menu does a pretty good job. I think there's around 100-140MBs of space in the twl (maybe less).

    i have 2 3dses and i still invested in a dsi/XL
    reason?
the screen isn't upscaled, so you get the bigger screen and it's still super crisp. so i'd say it's worth it if you want to see DS games in a less blurry fashion, and not downscaled to the size of a gameboy micro screen on a 3ds

you can do widescreen with the 3ds, but it doesn't work for every game. I think it's super easy now, but originally you had to use godmode to grab a file, then patch it and rename it. this is with twilight menu. I think I recently noticed it worked for dragon quest ix. I usually test a game you know is going to work which super mario 64. not all games work though without a flash cart. golden sun is one such game. it black screens. flash cart = no problem.

it's an incredibly hacky workaround, and not really "plug and play", while just running a game on a dsi is

I think all games should work with a flash cart. it can be a pain setting it up, but once that's done, it's just plug and play. I actually have twilight menu installed on my ds as well. it's using a flash cart, so I can play golden sun. when I say it doesn't work, it's not the widescreen patch, it's the game via sd card. personally, I don't think it's worth it especially when you mention few ds games, unless you plan on getting a flash cart.

Just a warning that the DSi XL button has a hard time hitting diagonals and the buttons are not XL sized. Its a bit disappointing on the comfort side. Still there's no replacement for the large, crisp pixels and the colors are very saturated compared to any 3DS.

the ds xl existed, but it came before the ds lite and had an inferior screen, but was much more comfortable to hold and the speakers were louder

if I were to get a DSi XL and go flashcard route for accessing all my carts in one, what is the flashcard of preference?

Whats difficult about setting it up as tl;dr?

And does it drain battery like something like EZF Omega does for GBA?
