It's too easy to downgrade a console, I doubt anyone will ever really look for another method. It's been years, since the 3.55 keys were leaked.
It also costs money.

Maybe they're holding off on releasing exploits until the console is completely dead, but that's just speculation.
It would be dumb to waste the exploit if it's their only one.

Yeah if you're using a fat model or a 2501A/B slim or lower model. Sucks for people on the 3000/4000(super slim) ps3s because their only option is a ode

Sony did ECDSA right this time, so private signing keys are gone. There won't be "CFW" again. If there managed to be a kernel exploit the best you could hope for is a webkit->Kernel exploit that wouldn't survive a reboot.

I don't think that much people are spending time on the PS3 right now. With some discovery on how the PS4, I would expect that the better hackers are trying to do things there.
