Anyone here imported one recently? I want to get one but is it better to buy it off amazon jp or amazon?
If you're dead set on importing it seems highly unlikely any Vita will ship above 3.65. I imagine there's a way to verify that by looking for the newest released console and checking what FW it ships with online somewhere. If you buy an American Vita it's guaranteed to come with I think 3.60 or lower (it's in the sticky Vita Hack FAQ thread) and there are ways to force update to 3.65 without ever connecting the Vita itself to the internet.I was trying to at least get 3.65 so I can install Enso.
I would buy from Amazon Japan merely for the fact that they handle all the shipping/duties at checkout. Once your Vita arrives you just receive it. No muss, no fuss. You're also guaranteed to get a New Unit and I'm positive Amazon's customer service is vastly superior to that of Play-Asia or Ebay if anything goes wrong.
I ordered two gen1 Vitas from Amazon Japan.
They where advertised as "New". None of them had any wrapping around the box.
One of them did not have any bags around any accessories or the unit itself. The FW was 3.65.
The other one had bags around all the accessories and the unit itself was put in some kind of shrink wrap. The FW was 3.67.
Both unit are in pristine condition thou, Not a single mark on them,
I am already running Enso on the 3.65 unit and I will put up the other one on sale.
If it was gen 1 and it was at that firmware than they were not new. From what I know, they don’t make gen 1 vita anymore. And those that are new are 3.60 or less.
Yes, that is why I put quotation marks around New.
I was a bit sad, as I was expecting brand new units, but they where in excellent condition.
Just wanted to share my experience, with Japanese Amazon's "New" concept. The units came from two different shops as well.
I contacted a Japanese seller on Ebay as well asking about their new PS Vita. This person regarded updating the unit as a service. So really ask and confirm the firmware before ordering from Japan.
That is very good to know. Because I had kind of given up getting a brand new Vita.Yeah that’s true, but I just ordered it from amazon directly from Amazon Japan. They don’t update the systems. Anyone that sells it “new” shouldn’t update the system no matter if it’s a service. Many sellers on eBay hey and even amazon sell the item as “new” but it really isn’t only because it is in mint condition. So people have to be careful when buying
I did some poking around and PCH-2000za22 comes with 3.60. PCH-2000za23 comes with 3.63. Both can be updated to 3.65 and have h-encore and enso installed. There are PCH-2000za24s out there, but from what I gathered they're only the Neon Orange models. Those come with 3.67 so could be updated to current FW and have h-encore installed but not coldboot access via enso.
I can't find anything concrete but it looks like most likely 3.60. It could also be 3.61 or 3.63. Most of what I read suggest it won't be higher than 3.65.I don’t really get the PCH-..... but i just bought a Slim Black color model which will be in stock on the 14th and is labeled (PCH-2000ZA11) which do you think it might come with? It’s brand new directly from Amazon as a seller on Amazon Japan.
(PCH-2000ZA11)

afaik even the latest consoles come on only 3.61 out of the box, and the 3.61 is only for the 2 japan only colors (everything else is still plain 3.6 brand new)
