My father apparently is going to buy a NES Classic Edition from Walmart at $70.00 usd.
Is it worth it?
What can I do with it?

I already have a Wii with lots of emulators... but he's kinda collecting this stuff recently (two days ago he bought a 2006 Wii for $50 and last week he bought a Gamecube)

So... opinions? Is it worth to hack it? Or leave it nice and clean Vanilla? Or even in it's box, never to be touched by the sun light?

It's worth every cent when you hack it :)
I myself have a SNES Mini/PS1 Classic, hacked and both I just love!

Since a SNES Mini is almost the same as the NES mini, i never got around buying a NES Mini, no reason to anyway

If you have the change, use hackchi CE on the NES mini/Classic and play away :D (if your dad allows it :P )

You should get it because it won't be available anywhere. Oh yeah, keep the art box and take great care of it. One day you might gave it up and sell it on Ebay or auction and it will be higher valuable price! :)

I have a SNES mini (Europe) and NES Mini (Europe). I adorable them because I grew up with them when I was kid. Missed 1980's and 1990's.

If you are collecting, sure, it's a pretty neat little piece of kit/history.

If you want to actually use it to play games, you would get much better value for money by getting a Raspberry Pi 4 + power adapter + 8bitdo controller + microSD card + Flirc case.

Will be much more powerful and customizable w.r.t. running emulated games (which is what the NES classic is doing).

I certainly know this. But my father is the one who's buying it.
As I said, he's kinda sick for consoles right now. Not sure what's happening.
Apparently he'll keep the console while I'll keep the box it came in. I have a Wii and to me it's the only thing I need right now for playing videogames.

Are there any tutorials to actually do that to the console? Things to be aware of? Do I need an SD card?
