There aren't bans for using AutoRCM, relax. There may be bans for other things you do in your CFW though....

If you want to know whether you should use AutoRCM, just consider how often you shut down (not sleep mode) and reboot your Switch. I rarely ever do. Also consider how often your Switch runs out of battery in some place where you can't easily charge it before ot turns off. If you don't have AutoRCM in those cases, you have to take a jig/tinfoil/bent paperclip/faerie's garterbelt/whatever everywhere you go, or be unable to boot back into CFW until you get home. If you have AutoRCM on, that's one less thing to worry about. I don't usually leave home with my Switch, but a lot of people do.

I don't use AutoRCM because I don't need it. My Switch stays home and I really only need to reboot it to update the firmware, so it doesn't bother me to do the jig thing when that happens. If you find yourself rebooting a lot, or going out and draining your battery, maybe you should use it. To each his own.

So far, there have been no confirmed bans for using AutoRCM alone. That does not however automatically make it safe. It is entirely possible that it is pure coincidence that no one has been banned yet for using it alone which is likely due to the very small sample size. If you are paranoid then do not enable it.

Sory to reanimated that old post, but do I understand it right that auto rcm will also work after my battery was empty? Lately it happened quite often that I forgot to charge it.

One more question is auto rcm a problem if I plan to migrate from sx os to atmo later?
All AutoRCM does is make your Switch default boot to RCM instead of booting normally into HOS, meaning you don't need to enter RCM manually. After you get into RCM, it doesn't make a difference how you got there. And it certainly won't interfere with you changing your CFW.

What are the drawbacks of using autorcm?
Not sure if it still applies, if your switch is off while AutoRCM is on, the battery drains faster.

You also have to have a payload in order to get back into the switch if it somehow turns off, so if you don't have a phone or a PC around, you're out of luck.

Otherwise, only pros. People have been fine for years using it, including myself. No bans.

Well we usually only put the switch into sleep mode. But yea we realized that it looks like the seit h isn't working if you try to turn it on without a payload.

So the battery drain on auto rcm has been fixed? I renember there was that issue once
AutoRCM never drained the battery in the first place; leaving the console caused battery drain. Because normally shutting down a console with AutoRCM enabled didn't properly turn it off, users reported battery drain but in reality their consoles were still on. Performing another shutdown successfully avoided this altogether and was the temporary solution until CFW managed to fully shut down a console even if AutoRCM was enabled.
