So I posted this on my wall putting my thoughts on the campaign and whaddyaknow. >.>

Well...what happened?

One of the offenders on my Facebook page just posted this -

I can't work out wtf you're trying to say. You think this campaign was started by that project? Why? The people that have made a real difference are the naysayers who didn't change their pics and pointed out it was a pointless, empty gesture, because that seems to have made at least some people actually donate some money to the nspcc.

Snopes now has a page about the origins of the idea (which didn't start out as having anything to do with child abuse) and its worth or lack thereof.

is not going to help you achieve it, especially if you don't actually tell anyone who you're calling idiots, what the good thing is, what the bad thing is and how you consider that people are backing it.

The 'cartoon profile' campaign was not started by anything to do with the Zahra Project, in the beginning it was just some guys wanting to put cartoon characters all over facebook for the fun of it, the 'This will stop child abuse lol" was only tagged on later to try and get more people to take part.
