Efnet once was a joyous place to frolick for the latest "filez", if you will, and post-BBS era leet speak. Things changed over time with a lot of new internet inspired words, possibly many from non-elite places, and quite possibly a lot of words stemming from past or then current AOL users which is a shame. In modern days, it has succumed to too many soft and hard drug users (marijuana and whatever other nasty habits people have on there). And also has brought along a painful amount of newbies that have little computer knowledge and lack of any coherent etiquette and other issues.

Gbatemp irc is a little different. Seems to be lacking the marijuana lamers and much of the elitist attitude but also has suffered from tyrants, bans for doing relatively little, and a lot of 4chan nonsense (I plead the 5th), noobs, obnoxious pokemon fans, etc.

Still, any IRC server can be a fun place and filled with joking around and such. Just gather up a group of regulars that all get along with eachother and enjoy the time together. However whenever I post things that actually are funny from a server to BASH.org, they always delete them and I have never had any posted through. There is something I am missing about BASH. Possibly they only accept quotes from certain chat rooms on a particular network that they monitor and can not vouch for the authenticity of quotes pouring in from the occasional passer by. Either that or they have a bad sense of humor. I am assuming the latter.

Anyways rule of thumb about IRC is that it is a chat network and telling people to STFU or forcing them to rage quit in some way will lower the amount of people actually talking on it and slow it down to a boring crawl or standstill. Keep in mind a little bit of etiquette when thinking of flaming people online unless you just like to unfill a chatroom to idle which is a pretty useless idea.
