So I ordered an iPlayer (Actually, I ordered it in December but it didn't ship until yesterday for some reason…)

Anyway, when I get it, what will I have to do to get it working to play GBA games?

I already have an Acekard 2i. Can I use the same microSD card, or will I have to get a new one for the iPlayer? Does the microSD card have to be formatted a different way?

What should I download? Should I use any different software other than what's on the iPlayer when I get it? Will I have to download a new version of the OS or something? And finally, where can I download the emulator for it, and where do I put it once I download it?

Sorry for all these questions… Thanks!

ALSO, I want to point out something that happened to me. After saving games, go BACK TO THE DS iPLAYER MENU BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE DS to actually keep the save files. for some reason if you save and turn it off, it doesnt recognize the save. maybe im just doing it wrong, or maybe i need to SRAM Patch the GBA files. Not exactly sure.

So does the card need to be formatted a certain way? Or can I just load up the OS, ROMs, and the emulator on my current Acekard card and just start playing as soon as I get the iPlayer?

Basically you download the iPlayer stuff for 1.4U (if you have a DSi with 1.4, but get it anyway cuz its latest version) off of their website [DS iPlayer firmware], and then download GBADSi (GBA DSi) and follow the instructions there. Place the ROMs in the gamepack folder and .sav's in the gamerts folder. then you are all set. Hope this helps, and good luck!

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
