The iPhone is locked to the AT&T carrier, which aside from being limiting is immoral since AT&T has fought against net neutrality.
Basically they want to charge you different rates for your internet access based on how fast it is (like they currently do) and then again charge everyone who hosts websites for the speed at which their website can operate.
The way it would work is that even if you have a high-speed internet connection, when you go to GBAtemp, or any other relatively small site, it will effectively be dial up speed to you because GBAtemp never payed the premium fee to AT&T. Worse it would effectively destroy small businesses and political speech online because nobody would bother going to the slow websites when they could go to the fast mega-websites instead. Despicable!
Meizu M8 has more features than iPhone, is unlocked, and is a lot cheaper (same price at 16GB that Apple has at 8GB), its Chinese though, not JapaneseI wonder what these superior Japanese phones are.. Can anyone show me a few?
What the hell does that have to do with a iPhone?ds + r4 = 175$
any free phone from provider = free
combined... $175
pros:
good games
homebrew
$225 cheaper
considerably cheaper per month
birds will probably shit on you less
not made by apple
cons:
you may have to use 2 pockets, god forbid
no portable internet (although you could probably get a web browsing phone for like $25 more)

Actually, it's not so much the speed as the priority with which a carrier will deliver pages, let's say you have two customers, A and B, A is going to GBAtemp, and B is going to Google. Google has more money than a chimp has shit so customer B's request gets put in first and all his packets get priority over customer A's. Still not right, and still a huge pain in the ass.
Thats called the "Apple effect".Just spent about 15 minutes checking one out in the store.
Can honestly say that the overall experience makes up for the current lack of features. I plan to pick one up later this week.
If providing a fantastic user experience is the "Apple effect", maybe I should try OSX one of these days.Just spent about 15 minutes checking one out in the store.

Well, what I meant by that is that it makes a good initial impression on you, so the rest of the experience seems fun even with the shortcomings. If providing a fantastic user experience is the "Apple effect", maybe I should try OSX one of these days.Just spent about 15 minutes checking one out in the store.
