The iPhone is locked to the AT&T carrier, which aside from being limiting is immoral since AT&T has fought against net neutrality.

Basically they want to charge you different rates for your internet access based on how fast it is (like they currently do) and then again charge everyone who hosts websites for the speed at which their website can operate.

The way it would work is that even if you have a high-speed internet connection, when you go to GBAtemp, or any other relatively small site, it will effectively be dial up speed to you because GBAtemp never payed the premium fee to AT&T. Worse it would effectively destroy small businesses and political speech online because nobody would bother going to the slow websites when they could go to the fast mega-websites instead. Despicable!

Actually, it's not so much the speed as the priority with which a carrier will deliver pages, let's say you have two customers, A and B, A is going to GBAtemp, and B is going to Google. Google has more money than a chimp has shit so customer B's request gets put in first and all his packets get priority over customer A's. Still not right, and still a huge pain in the ass.

I wonder what these superior Japanese phones are.. Can anyone show me a few?
Meizu M8 has more features than iPhone, is unlocked, and is a lot cheaper (same price at 16GB that Apple has at 8GB), its Chinese though, not Japanese

I'm starting to wonder if the Meizu M8 really would be cheaper...see...considering how long its taking to come out, I'm afraid it will be more expensive than the iPhone.

Either way though, owning the Meizu M6, I'm almost 100% sure it'll be awesome...you know...having copy and paste and Windows CE means apps pour from the sky.

ds + r4 = 175$
any free phone from provider = free
combined... $175

pros:
good games
homebrew
$225 cheaper
considerably cheaper per month
birds will probably shit on you less
not made by apple

cons:
you may have to use 2 pockets, god forbid
no portable internet (although you could probably get a web browsing phone for like $25 more)

EDGE sucks as far as speed and reliability...

Personally, I have a digital camera for photos, an MP3 player for music, and a DVD player/TV and PC for movies. I don't know why everyone wants this "jack of all trades" master of none type of thing. Yes, it's nice to be able to text and take occasional pictures, but sheesh, what more can they pack into a phone? Imagine the battery life if all the damn thing did was take calls?

Well priority obviously translates to speed in the end (if it didn't make a difference in speed who would give a crap about priority), but yeah you gave a better, more accurate description of it.

don't know much about iphone, but these two facts already turn me away.

1. Price
2. Company and Brand

i dont get what everyone has against apple
the ipods may be expensive, but their customer service is good (i got my ipod replace 2 times when it didnt work for free) their interface is stylish, itunes is useful for organising music and videos and such, and there are a lot of ipod accsessories
the iphone is sort of bad because of the price, no buttons, and the screen would get fingerprints on it easily imo

First of all it's hell expensive. Secondly it's a new platform not S60 or Windows Mobile
edit: Does IPhone supports 3rd party applications at all? It was so expensive I didn't realy read any details about IPhone

Just spent about 15 minutes checking one out in the store.

Can honestly say that the overall experience makes up for the current lack of features. I plan to pick one up later this week.

Thats called the "Apple effect".
If providing a fantastic user experience is the "Apple effect", maybe I should try OSX one of these days.
Well, what I meant by that is that it makes a good initial impression on you, so the rest of the experience seems fun even with the shortcomings.

But yeah, if you like iPhone, you'll love OSX probably
