    Hello all,

I have a brand new Black Wii (v4.2) here that is ready to be devirginized. I am working with GAF’s tutorial currently (http://gwht.wikidot.com/start), with concept that I will be keeping all of the system IOS’ untouched. When I attempt to install IOS236 (v3 or v4), I get a crash dump.

The steps I have taken so far with the Wii are as follows:

    1. Used bannerbomb alpha v2 to install HBC 1.0.8 and BootMii.
    2. Installed Priiloader v5
    3. Attempted to install IOS236 v3 and crashed instantly.
    a. Noticed that IOS236 v4 came out today and it will actually stay up long enough for me to read the disclaimer before it crashes.

[per the instructions, my Wii is connected to the Internet via my Wireless]

Here is a picture of the crash dump from the v3.

Priiloader clean or hacks.ini used (which ones)?

    http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS58_Installer
After that reinstall HBC and try IOS236 installers again.

    Other method.
Grab "wiiload" command from HBC installation pack and use it to inject IOS236v3/4 over network.

I'm not sure what you mean by clean or hacks.ini used. I installed Priiloader and there is no hacks.ini present on my SD card at this time (I always put that on after I install it).

IOS58 installer results in a black screen.

Tried the wiiload command and it sits s.o.s. {stuck on stupid} when trying to send:
    COMMAND: wiiload boot.dol
    wiiload v0.5
    coded by dhewg, #wiidev efnet

    compressing 376640 bytes... 51.21%
    connecting to 192.168.1.129:4299
    sending upload request
    sending file size (192879 bytes)
    sending data

[my HBC states it is using IOS61 v21.29]

There is bug in HBC. You must be on HBC title screen during wiiload. Not on info screen where You could get IP address.

AYE! Hold the phone, I was in the wrong screen and the wiiload screen fired up and it launched the IOS236 installer. I choose option 1 (becuase I wasn't really paying attention), so it didn't actually install IOS236 [IMG]

So I re-load my Wii and now when I use the wiiload option it's back to crashing. Ugh.

Try this method over sd card, just edit xml file and make sure that You've edited it well.

Try powering wii down - disconnect from power for about 3min and try wiiload ios236 again.

Sorry mike333, I don't follow you. That link is taking me to a bug report about AHBPROT, so I'm not sure what you want me to do with the XML file?

That link brings up another interesting point. The new Dop-Mii v14.1 uses IOS61 + AHBPORT to install things now. If I try and launch that, it crashes my Wii as well.

Find meta.xml and read whole paragraph. Then read bug report again.

I was thinking the same thing. Unplugged the Wii for about 5 minutes and loaded back up HBC and did the wiiload method again (since it worked once before) and it crashed again (man that's annoying how it would work only once).

That's because if You pressed "1" for first time IOS236 installer noted that somewhere and form now it uses different runpath.
I don't like what dr clipper do related "MAGIC" variables in IOS236.

Well the good news is that it didn't crash, the bad news is that didn't install:

    Performing Step 1
    Patching IOS
Unable to initialize the initial batches.
This either means you didn’t follow the download and launching instructions correctly, or your IOS is not vulnerable for an unknown reason.
Perhaps you need to update the Homebrew Channel (HBC). Installation cannot continue.
    Press any button to exit.

    Progress....

I need to run an errand, I'll be back in an hour or so and I will see what your next batch of suggestions are and ping you back. Thanks mike333 for all of your help! Hopefully this can prove useful for others with the same problem.

    Just guessing
    run MMM from HBC then
    run IO236 installer from MMM
    Still crashes?

    Or

Try installer v1 from HBC without any xml modifications (replace it from installer zip file).
Older version might be created against older devkitpro/libogc.
