I tried the new IOS 58 Installer by Tantric but after it downloads it says installation failed!

Could it be because I have DarkCorp 1.1 installed?

Also I'm on Wii 4.2...do I really need this?

in mi case (wii 4.1) use this instructions on wiibrew in talk ios58 installer:

    Offline install?

ios 58 installer is posible install offline? --Catuliwiib 00:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

For that, you can use NUS Downloader and then wadImport. --Tantric 05:13, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks XFlak...considering the installer just downloads an unpatched ios58 from NUS and you say that I already should have ios58 because of DarkCorp, I'm going to pass! I finally downloaded NUSAD though, so all this certainly wasn't a waste of time!

    BTW...you say test ios58 myself...how?

Well clearly you feel you need IOS58 for something, try and do whatever it was you thought you need it for. If you didn't think you needed IOS58, its quite stupid to attempt to install it.

My guess is to use the Your Shape game or other ways that use IOS58 and see if it loads / works.

My IOS58 v5918 is trucha bugged (installed from a .wad). I haven't found a way to test it out yet though.

    Okay removed.

I am trying to keep my Wii as future proof as possible. If you read my first post I did ask if I even needed this!

I read the speculation about the next Wiimc using ios58 and also know it was included in SM 4.3 and I wanted it's benefits without updating!

    @Kryptical ,
you can't link to that file... besides, if any1 wants the file, they can use NUSAD or NUSD to get it LEGALLY.

The only reason I can think of why a patched IOS58 MIGHT fail only applies to using one of Tantric's new updated apps (like the latest super mario war or dosbox) that take advantage of the HW_AHBPROT direct hardware access could be patching IOS58 on the fly. If its already patched, I don't know how it would react. (this is all speculation). It will probably work fine though.

    I removed the link.

So is there a way to test it out without having the game? Since mine is trucha bugged, I'm guessing it will work the same way as all the other trucha bugged IOS's.

I am downloading Super Mario War to test it out!

Update: Scratch that- my Internet is capped atm so it will take over 3 hours to download the 13.5MB file!

Well, like I said, it will work for sure for everything that doesn't use HW_AHBPROT direct hardware access to patch the IOS on the fly. To test if it also works on the ones that do, you need to launch an app that does this. Currently there are only 2 (listed above), here is a direct download link to the new super mario war
    Super Mario War v1.4

As I said earlier, I suspect it will work fine with a patched IOS58, but my knowledge on HW_AHBPROT is very limited.

FYI, I've heard the next HBC release will run off of IOS58. If this is the case, it will likely require IOS58 is NOT patched. So you may need to eventually install a non-fakesigned IOS58 anyways.

It means that Tantric can run his apps under a clean IOS to get USB2.0 support?

All of my apps will punish you with an annoying warning for having an altered IOS58, or just plain not use it. HBC will just plain not use it. Don't mess with your IOS58!

If you want to install a virgin IOS58 (which you'll have to to use it!), delete your existing IOS58 first via AnyTitle Deleter.
