Hello, I have been using my Wii to play gamecube and Wii games off of a USB drive for years now, but just recently USB Loader GX stopped recognizing my USB drive. I ran sysCheck to see what the issue could be and this is the result...

sysCheck v2.1.0b19 by Double_A and R2-D2199, Nano ...runs on IOS58 (rev 6176).
Region: NTSC-U System Menu 4.1U (v449) Priiloader installed Drive date: 2007.02.13 Homebrew Channel 1.1.2 running on IOS58

BC v6 MIOS v10 (DIOS MIOS 2.6.1+)

By switching the loader IOS to 58 (one with USB 2.0) USB Loader can detect the flash drive and show the files I have on the drive, but I cannot choose IOS 58 as the game IOS. I tried IOS 251 as well, but it did not work. So my question is, is there something wrong with my IOS 249 (the one I previously used to load USB Loader and the games), if so what could have changed it, and how can I fix it? In the meantime I have been able to use Nintendont to load gamecube games, but sadly it does not load Wii games. Thanks.

Did you try a different drive like a real HDD? Wiis are iffy with flash drives.

You can't use IOS58 to launch Wii games. That requires a patched IOS to redirect the disc access calls to USB.

I have not tried a normal HDD since this flash drive has worked in the past for me, so I figured it was probably something else, but I will try that.

Edit: Sadly no luck with another drive.

I just noticed what version of SysCheck you're using. The HacksDen version might give you better info. Here's my 249-251 slot list:
IOS249[56] (rev 21010, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[57] (rev 21010, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS251[58] (rev 21010, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

It's possible something is wrong with your IOS249 if it's not showing USB access. It does on SysCheck HDE 2.3.2.

The next obvious step would be to use Modmii or the d2x cIOS installer and rebuild/reinstall your cIOSs.

I prefer the Modmii method just because at some point you have to transfer files from computer to your SD/USB anyway and I use a Windows machine.
You need to run the classic version of Modmii, either start ModMii.exe or from ModMiiSkin.exe there is an option to switch to classic version.
Start by going to download page 4, once there type beta to change the version you want for 249 and 250, currently you have v10b52 so type 2, back on page 4 type 24956 so it gets marked then 25057 as well.
Now for the others...
Type adv to goto the advanced page. Type beta to change to v10b53 (or just leave on v10b52). Start with 24937,
when prompted for slot number type 245, say n keep current version number, y add to queue. Do the same for the others 24938 to 246, 24953 to 247, 24955 to 248 and 24958 to 251. Type d to download y to confirm.

Copy the newly build wads to SD and install with your favorite wad manager.

I haven't used the d2x cIOS installer for forever so I can't give detailed instructions but you need the installer, v10b52 and v10b53. This post from Cyan has a link to a pack with them all. I believe your Wii has to be online or you have to use NUS downloader to get the official IOSs 37, 38, 53, 55, 56, 57, and 58. Run NUSD from within its own folder and be sure to pack the wad.
When transferring to SD, put wads in the root folder and the d2x installer folder (with its folders) in apps. Load through HBC.

I have reinstalled all the cIOS's and still no luck. I suspect it may be part of a larger problem with the Wii as the system menu doesn't work either (although that hasn't worked in years). Here is part of the sysCheck report...

Well nothing changed in the parts from the original post so I figured it wouldn't be useful information. I'll use the spoiler tags if I post another, and I will go through the brick page later, thanks.

That's not true. You ran SysCheck HDE later on, which provides more overall information, is more accurate, and (in my very biased opinion) looks cooler.

Alright, nothing relevant changed then, so I did not post it. As I said, if I post another I will do it the way you want.

EDIT: At this point the only functionality that is missing that I want is the ability to easily switch between Brawl and PM using USB Loader GX and fixing it seems to be more trouble than it's worth, so I will simply mod the vWii on a WiiU instead or have to use two consoles.

Post the stuff anyway, to your eyes nothing might have changed, but someone else who knows more might detect something.

Here is one as of a few minutes ago. I tried downgrading the system menu to 3.2, reinstalling IOS's and doing a NAND backup since the last sysCheck if that helps.

Don't just downgrade like that. You are very lucky that you didn't brick your Wii permanently.

Did you generate the cIOS's from ModMii?
