Version 5.5 has dropped: https://github.com/wavemotion-dave/NINTV-DS

Full ECS keyboard support is included with an easy icon to toggle it in/out. The first three custom overlays are in the new 'Extras' Overlay Pack for the ECS: World Series Major League Baseball, Jetsons Way With Words and Mind Strike!

I've also made some improvements to the main screen:

Standard Overlay

Gone is the 'Scores' button but you can still get there from the 'Menu' easily enough. This is to make room for the Keyboard and Disc icons at the bottom that let you toggle into Disc emulation or full Keyboard emulation (and there are now new icons on those screens that bring you back to your normal keypad overlay).

It should all be very intuitive and seamless as I continue to improve the UI. Enjoy!

  • Massive overhaul to the way overlays are found and loaded. No longer do you need to have the overlays named the same as the game ROM file - the emulator should find the matching overlay 99% of the time (and yes, you can still force the issue by naming the .ovl the same as the base game .int/.bin/.rom file)
  • If the system BIOS files are not found by name, a quick search is done by CRC32 to see if the emulator can load it.
  • These improvements should go a long way to helping people get their Nintellivision system running quickly and with less fuss.

Probably the largest release I've done that has zero actual emulation updates. This one is all about the user experience. I've added about a dozen new overlays and reworked about a dozen old overlays - some were just not up to snuff. But the biggest change is that the emulator should now properly guess (with 99% accuracy) the right overlay to load up based on the game you're playing. And you don't need to have multiple copies of the same overlay for hacked versions of games - so most of Dave Harley's games will now load up with the right overlay automatically. It's probably not perfect... but this should go a long way to helping the user experience.

My recommendation is to re-download the new overlay pack (122 overlays!) and re-install them removing what you had before. Let the system find them automatically - and enjoy the new overlays and updates to some of your favorites.

  • Fix to allow JLP games to execute out of 16-bit RAM. Fixes Defender of the Crown.
  • Fix ECS keyboard emulation to properly read back either port if configured for output (was causing FWDiagnostics to fail).
  • Improved UI display of 'JLP FLASH' so it shows a bit longer (but doesn't interfere with emulation speed)
  • Numerous new overlays added and updated some older ones.

The last two known bugs have been fixed... and a ton of new and improved overlays are added into the extras pack.

  • Fix for game selection to revert to the proper directory (the last one you were in to select games).
  • Fix for MOB collisions to not render for off-screen pixels which fixes the various Baseball Games (couldn't pick up ball in outfield).
  • Many new and improved overlays.
