I have the R4i-SDXC and the website has all the files for latest firmware. However there are no instructions on what to do.

I have the original DS phat and 3DS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its normally a .nds file you would run on a currently compatible console (treat it as if where a game your trying to load)
Sorry, you're going to have to spell everything out to me. I don't know what I should do with what files and I'm not sure what you mean by compatible console.

well the file you downloaded is most likely a rar or a zip file
extract the contents with winzip or winrar
you should get a .nds file, thats the update

compatible console meaning a console the flashcard currently works on
so if your 3ds is running 4.4.0-10 then the cards not going to work on it because the cards not been updated to run on it

a DSPhat or Lite will never block a flashcard because the console cant be updated to block them

alright. So for the update winrar, there are two files. So I've put the files 'Firmware Upgrade.nds' and 'update.dat' onto the memory stick. I've put the flashcart into my DS phat and all I get is a blank white screen?

My DS can't seem to read the kernel. It displays a picture of a micro sd memory card with a smiley face with the text 'loading', but it never gets anywhere. I believe the clone uses the TTmenu kernel.

the kernel and firmware needs to be from the site stated on teh card sticker
you extracted it also to the root of the card?
you must not put it in any other folder

your MicroSD card should look like this as soon as you open it

It is, but for whatever reason it doesn't work. At least it never fully loads. Could it be the DS phat? The original R4 works on it perfectly.

Would there be another kernel I could use, since the card is a clone?

what is the site stated on your card

clone means a fake another card
so the r4i-sdxc companys cards are all fake clones

if there offical kernel doesnt work
then id say it could be the microSD card

It's weird though, because my 3DS recognizes the menu file (at least it shows the card logo when inserted) and ages ago when I was messing around with the card, I managed to get it working to the menu - although I have no clue how.

The fact that it shows the menu loading sign, I think indicates that the card is reading the files.

no, I think the error is indicative that it's reached the menu file, since the loading screen is particular to the kernel.

Unless if it's software already built into the card.
