Last v6s I received was blinking red and not glitching once in a while. I replaced it with another one and it worked correctly. Where did you get the info that info that v6s are defective? But it makes sense, I have only installed a couple of them so I though it was bad luck

Oof when did you receive those? I just dropped off a v6 to my local shop who also went on a 3 week vacation…so now I’m kinda worried the v6 I got 2 weeks ago is a dud

Apparently all v6 are only 1.0.

and apparently also, the v6s and I didn't know it, many are arriving defective and with problems and they have been removed from sale. Only v6 works without problems
So that's the reason why V6S are out of stock everywhere. 🤔

Anyway, I got confirmed from my source that there isn't and won't be any firmware update for V6, that means the 1.0.0 is the one and only.
BUT apparently there is 2.0.0 for V6S actually.

Has anyone found documentation on the V6S on how to reset it using the consoles USB-C port? I'm interested in this but have only seen Sthetix's installation and he does not demonstrate that feature in the video (unless he's posted about it since then, haven't looked recently).
In this link: https://www.sthetix.info/updating-and-resetting-the-v6s-modchip/ from sthetix's website there is a video showing how to update and reset the V6S MODCHIP

Ohhh sorry

I had the following problem with two devices: I did all the soldering, the chip worked, I put the files on the SD card, I put the games in and everything worked perfectly. Two days later I put them both to sleep and a few hours later they showed an error message and didn't turn back on. Both have a half green and half yellow light on the chip. Do you know what this could be?

there's no documentation on v6/v6s led error code afaik. based on my experience, solid white could mean anything, from dead emmc to loose wire. You need to connect the chip to your computer and do verbose/diagnostic boots till the problem appears. although i'm 90% sure this random boot failure is caused by bad emmc dat0 connection.

connect the micro usb dongle to the chip, then connect the chip to pc. blue led will light up and a new com port will appear, use any terminal software to connect to the port with default settings (115200, 8n1 iirc). Press h for menu:

> h
# Debug menu keys overview
'v' Show modchip board info
'd' Diagnose single boot
'b' Boot OFW
't' (Re-)train modchip
'c' Show timing configuration table
'r' Reset timing configuration table
'p' Program eMMC with embedded payload
'e' Erase eMMC BOOT0 payload
'x' Jump to bootloader
'h' Show this help text
# ========================
> v
# Board ID: SX Lite, FPGA ID: INSTINCT

press d to do diagnostic boot, repeat till error appears.

I need to do that while chip is still connected to the switch? So the chip will be connected to pc and switch at same time?

yes with the chip connected to switch
I didn't manage to run the diagnostic. Can we chat together so you can explain me please?

What software do you suggest, putty is pretty bad at displaying informations, there is not break line

Ps my dat0 is kamikazed so pretty sure it does not come from that?

I use xshell as I also need to ssh into some linux vps, just change connection type to serial and change baud rate to 115200 in serial settings:

also the new line symbol instinct sends is different, default cr will cause character to scroll all over the place, using auto fixes the issue:

if it's kamikaze dat0 then idk, never done it before only emmc reball. what does it say when you press d? paste the output here and i'll take a look
