Well, I got a Dell Inspiron 1521 along with Vista Home, which I'm just not going to use. Anyway, I wanted to install XP on this one and when I've finally done it, it comes that the cd with drivers won't install cause it tells the OS is not supported (seems like they only have drivers for Vista or something). It fucking annoys me... but I bet there must be some way to install XP drivers on this machine... May any of you enlighten me?

And PLEASE, no advices about how good your Linux/Vista/Any Other OS works and why I shouldn't install XP cause that's not what I'm asking for

If you just want to format and install XP then go into your BIOS settings and tell it to boot from your CD drive as the first priority instead of hard-drive and insert the XP cd. Save your settings and it should then boot.

I'm afraid I can't help you BIOS-wise cause I don't know what type of BIOS you've got just hopefully not Abi-BIOS *shudders*

No, that's not what I was asking about, but thanks

I formatted, and now I'm trying to install the drivers for the hardware, which are not avalaible on XP if you try to install them as a pack whilst there are easily achievable if you're looking for a Vista pack. I'm trying to install them all separately, I'll post the results

Yeah unless you can get hold of a Dell OEM XP install CD, you'll have to install the drivers one by one.

I just hope you haven't got a RAID setup! Good luck!!!

It worked? What did you end up doing, looking for XP drivers piece buy piece? I herd
many Toshiba laptops & Laptops running Intel hardware such as sound & video have no
XP drivers. I believe some DELL’s also use the Intel motherboard.
