I want to install themes on my wii, but I don't know quite where to start.

Mainly I want to know how to get brick protection. When I installed the HBC, it said I was only able to download Bootmii as an ios.

So what else do I have to do in order to get brick protection?

And once that's out of the way, what should I use for installing themes.

Thanks so much for all your help in advance!

If you´ve got soldering skills, a nand programmer and the fact you DO know what you`re doing, then go ahead. It´s 95% probably of bricking without boot2 to help you. (it´s too risky!)

You can install Priiloader. That should already be enough to "safely" install Wii themes.

As long as you get the themes from a reliable source you should be fine.

It's risky, because what I believe happens when you install a theme, is that it patches up the system menu. Priiloader depends on the system menu being there, and patches may result in Priiloader getting removed, which is why some people whom bricked their Wii consoles cannot boot into Priiloader despite having it installed.

no when you install a theme with mymenuify only one file is changed thats the copy of the base app on the wii
priiloader is saved somewhere else on the wii

on a 4.2E system the theme file is in TITLE/000001/000002/CONTENT/00008A.APP
    and priiloader is TITLE/000001/000002/CONTENT/00008B.APP
mymenuify only changes the 8a file

the only way to remove priiloader when installing a theme is if you pack the theme in to a system wad which isnt the best idea
yes i know modmii will install the dark wii red theme as a wad but that has been fully test as safe before xflax released it as me and other friends did the testing and i made that theme

themes was risky like 2 years ago before priiloader and mymenuify but as long as you have priiloader your safe to use mymenuify

you DO NOT have to have bootmii as boot2 to be safe only priiloader
